Post-Renovation Cleaning Checklist: Room by Room for Singapore HDB and Condo
By MyCleanHome · June 2026 · 7 min read

After a professional post-renovation clean is completed, walking through the unit with a checklist ensures nothing has been missed and gives you a record of the handover condition. This checklist is for homeowners inspecting after a professional clean — or self-checking before calling the cleaning complete.
How to use this checklist
Walk through each room systematically. Use a torch or bright light to check areas that look clean from a distance — fine cement dust and silicone haze are often invisible under normal lighting but obvious with a light angled across a surface. Check at different angles, particularly for tile surfaces and glass.
Kitchen
- Hob — no grease residue, burner heads clean, surrounding surfaces wiped
- Hood — filter clean or replaced, interior free of grease and construction dust, exterior wiped
- All cabinet interiors — run your hand along every shelf for dust or debris
- Cabinet fronts and handles — wipe with damp cloth and check for dust
- Backsplash — check for cement haze on tiles, check grout lines
- Countertop — wipe down accessible surfaces; flag excess sealant to the contractor
- Sink — no construction residue, taps clean and polished
- Floor — no cement smears, grout lines clean, edges clean
- Behind and sides of installed appliances — check if accessible
Bathrooms
- All tile surfaces — hold torch at 45 degrees to surface to detect grout haze
- Grout lines — uniformly clean, no cement residue or discolouration
- Sealant finishing — flag any excess or smears to the contractor; not part of the standard clean
- Toilet, basin and fittings — no construction residue, label stickers removed
- Shower screen or door — accessible glass clean and surface dust removed
- Floor — particularly corners and drain area
- Mirror — streak-free and clean
Bedrooms
- Wardrobe interiors — all shelves, rails and interior surfaces, including top shelf
- Ceiling fan — blades clean on top and bottom, housing wiped
- AC trunking — exterior wiped, grilles clear of dust
- Window tracks — run finger along tracks to check for debris
- Window sills and frames — check for paint splatters
- Floors — edges, corners and under any built-in furniture
- Skirting boards — run hand along top edge to check for settled dust
Living and dining areas
- All flooring — check for tile haze (angle torch across floor surface), cement spots, grout lines
- Any built-in carpentry — all interior surfaces, top of units, interior corners
- Windows — interior glass clean, frames and tracks clear
- Skirting boards — dust-free, no paint splatters
- Ceiling — check for dust and paint splatter around fixtures
- Light fittings — clean and free of construction dust
Throughout the home
- Light switches and power sockets — wiped clean
- All door frames — front and back of frames, handles, edges
- All mirrors and glass — streak-free
- Air — the home should not have a strong construction dust smell remaining
If you spot something after the clean: Note it down and WhatsApp the cleaning company with photos before accepting the clean as complete. A professional company will return to address any missed areas within the agreed scope — this should be expected, not contested.
